To the Simulium Community
After a long delay and much tearing of hair, I am now glad to
announce that the BLACKFLY web pages have reopened at the new
URL http://www.blackfly.org uk Note: "blackfly" is singular!
Much of the content is as before, but there are two important
changes.
1. The full texts of all The British Simuliid Group Bulletins from
1992 to 2005 can now be downloaded as Acrobat (r) .pdf files.
2. There is a link to an exciting new project which I am calling
"Blackflies Wiki". This is similar to the "Wikipedia" encyclopedia
concept because anyone reading the pages can edit them right there on
the screen. I have loaded Blackflies Wiki with some preliminary
texts describing blackflies, and my hope is that anyone in the
Simuliid community will add, delete or modify the text until we get a
consensus about a general description of blackflies and their biology
that everyone can agree on. It could be interesting!
Follow the link on the left side of the Blackfly.org.uk welcome page
and have a dabble. I'd be pleased to receive your comments via the
Discussion Forum page.
If you manage a web page, please include a link to
"http://www.blackfly.org.uk"
Best wishes to all.
