Mae hwn yn ddiwrnod hyfforddi ar y cyd gyda chymorth CyMAL.  Mae'n cael ei
gynnal gan yr Ymddiriedolaeth Genedlaethol, a chyda sesiynau dan arweiniad
dehonglwyr byw proffesiynol o Amgueddfa Werin Cymru yn Sain Ffagan,
Caerdydd.

4. BWRDD CROESO CYMRU 
Showcase Wales 
The Wales Tourist Board is busy organising familiarisation trips for the
tour operators and agents who will be coming into Wales for Showcase Wales,
the biennial business-to-business event which will take place in Cardiff
from 18 - 20 October. The themed trips will be taking place all around Wales
in the days before the event, from Saturday 15 October to the afternoon of
Tuesday 18 October. We are looking for any events or activities which could
enhance the trip itineraries.
If you have any events/activities taking place during the familiarisation
trip period (Saturday 15 October to the afternoon of Tuesday 18 October),
which may be of interest to trade delegates attending Showcase Wales; or
could assist with with providing musicians or performers for the evenings of

5. HYFFORDDI A DIGWYDDIADAU
5.1 The South Wales and South West England AMA support group
The South Wales and South West England AMA support group is for anyone
pursuing (or considering pursuing) Associateship of the Museums Association.
Members meet every other month (generally the first Tuesday) in various

5.3 The JISC's Technical Advisory Service for Images (TASI) is running the
following workshops during September:
***Image Capture - Advanced - Friday 9th September
More advanced scanning and optimisation techniques, including histograms, 
levels and curves. Introduces colour management and the use of ICC 
profiles, and covers techniques for capturing difficult 2D and 3D items.
***Create and Animate Vector Graphic Using Flash MX - Friday 16th September
Suitable for non-technical professionals who wish to create animated 
graphics for use on the Web or in presentations. Includes drawing tools, 
creating animation using the timeline, and basic action scripting for 
navigation and interaction.
***Digital Rights Management - Friday 23rd September
Covers copyright and other legal issues as they relate to digital images. 
Offers practical approaches to securing and protecting copyright within a 
digital environment.

5.4 Cynhadledd Rhyngwladol o gelfyddydau gwirfoddol ac amatur Rhwydwaith
Celfyddydau Gwirfoddol/ Celfyddydau Gwirfoddol Cymru
11/12 Tachwedd 2005, Canolfan Mileniwm Cymru, Caerdydd, Cymru, DU
Voluntary Arts Network and Voluntary Arts Wales are proud to be hosting
Value - Include - Connect 2005 which carries on from 2004`s art4all
conference in Utrecht. The establishment of a European Network of
Voluntary/Amateur Arts (ENVAA) is its central aim.

5.5 Cymdogion Celtaidd - cynhadledd cyffrous a chynhadledd yn torri tir
newydd yn y Galeri, Caernarfon
is a direct attempt to establish formal links across the Irish Sea with
Cultural Practitioners and those whose job it is to make them work. Once
established we are aiming to expand the footprint to all the Celtic
countries and regions. For practising artists in all arts forms, for arts
and community groups who want to extend and develop their activities, for
cultural organisations of all kinds, regeneration agencies, venue
administrators and managers.
Language issues, economics, shared problems and best practise etc. It will
be intensely fun.

5.7 EUCLID
Seminars On European Cultural Co-Operation 
Workshops On Preparing Applications To Culture 2000
There are many opportunities for cultural co-operation projects and

current and future EU funding opportunities but also ways in which cultural

5.11 The Victorian Terraced House - National Conference
Venue: The Welsh School of Architecture, Cardiff

5.12 Accessibility and the Historic Environment
Following a successful series of seminars in other regions, the Historic
Environment Forum for the East Midlands is holding a seminar on 14th
September at the Northamptonshire County Records Office (Wootton Hall Park,
Northampton, NN4 8BQ) between 2.30 and 4.30pm, sponsored by English
Heritage, the National Trust and the Disability Rights Commission. This is
an open invitation to service providers within the sector, others involved
with the historic environment and members of the general public, in
particular disabled people, to hear short presentations on some of the
issues and successes of the sector together with an opportunity to feed in
their thoughts and ideas and ask questions.

5.13 Conservation in Architectural Education: making a case
ICOMOS UK's Education and Training Committee is running two events to bring
into focus the role of conservation in architectural education at all levels
in equipping professionals with skills necessary to address the challenges
in any realistic commitment to sustainability of the built environment.

5.14 Woodchester Mansion: stonemasonry courses
The unfinished 19th century mansion near Stroud in Gloucestershire provides
a rare opportunity for on site stonemasonry training courses for
professionals and craftsmen. The course, from 7th -9th October is designed
to put into effect the Prince of Wales' principles of craft training.

5.15 CONSERVARE 2005 
takes place in Courtrai, Flanders from 7th - 10th October 2005. For further
information and updates on the heritage forum or to register online for the

This gives details and progress reports on the various aspects of CONSERVARE
2005, and also on heritage initiatives and projects in the European
countries. With only a few weeks before the 2006 projects for the EU funding
programme Culture 2000 (see above) have to be sent in at the European
Commission. CONSERVARE 2005 offers a unique (and last!) opportunity to meet
and find partners, to discuss and formalise final details of projects.

5.16 Environment Conservation Workshops at the Ironbridge Institute 2005 
Following on from the practical conservation workshops held this summer the
Ironbridge Institute is now offering 2 day workshops covering Basic Concepts
In Conservation. Topics will comprise: The Historic Environment, 7th - 8th
October 2005; Conservation Ethics, 11th -12th November 2005; Conservation
Legislation in theory and practice, 9th -10th December 2005; Specifications
and Conservation plans, 13th -14th January 2006; Understanding British
Buildings, 10th -11th February 2006 with speakers from the National Trust,
the Heritage Lottery Fund, Cadw, English Heritage, the SPAB, and SAVE
amongst others.

5.17 Churches Tourism Association 2005 Conference
This year's CTA conference Visit Sacred Britain: Sacred Art, Sacred Places
offers presentations on Sacred places in the National Trust; Beyond the Wood
and Stone, Using Space Creatively; Seeing is Believing (the Tate
Exhibition); Art and Church Tourism; Interpreting Sacred Places with
Workshops of Pilgrimage Trails, Commissioning Art and Funding for Art in
Sacred Places.

5.18 Dorset Building Conservation Courses and Lime Burn
A week of one-day courses from 12th - 15th September at Corfe Castle in

5.19 West Dean Building Conservation Masterclasses
A collaboration between West Dean College, English Heritage and the Weald &
Downland Open Air Museum offers a range of intensive courses, residential or
non-residential combining lectures, demonstrations and practical exercises

6.1 Grantiau newydd i grwpiau cymuned a gwirfoddol yng Nghastell-nedd Port
Talbot
Bydd cynllun grantiau bach newydd a fydd yn rhoi cymorth ariannol hynod
werthfawr i grwpiau cymuned a gwirfoddol yng Nghastell-nedd Port Talbot yn

6.2 AIM Sustainability Grant Scheme
The Association of Independent Museums (AIM) has launched a new scheme to
aid the sustainability of small and medium scale independent museums. Grants
of around £5,000 will be made to assist members with projects such as
employing a consultant to look at retail/catering operations and implement
their recommendations, review marketing strategies, develop a business plan,
and carry out a governance or organisational review. Museums must be AIM
Members, have a turnover of less than £300,000 or have less than 60,000
visitors a year and should be Registered or working towards Accreditation.

6.4 Gulbenkian Prize For Museums And Galleries 2006: Call For Entries.
Submissions are invited for the UK's single biggest arts prize, The
Gulbenkian Prize for Museums and Galleries which will open on Thursday 1
September 2005. Now in its fourth year, the £100,000 prize is awarded to a
museum or gallery in the UK, large or small, for the best new development of
the previous calendar year.

6.6 Microsoft Community Learning Awards
 The aim of the Microsoft Community Learning Awards 2005 is to support
groups and charities across the UK who are tackling digital exclusion by
providing opportunities for disadvantaged young people and adults to learn
about IT through community-based technology and learning centres. The awards
will distribute 30 prizes of £2,500 to community groups across the UK. This
is your opportunity to tell them about the IT training you provide and how a
grant from Microsoft could enhance the real difference you are making in
your community.

Entries are invited for the 2005 Georgian Group Architectural Awards.

6.10 Association for Industrial Archaeology
The AIA award programme aims to enhance the understanding of industrial
archaeology and to encourage high standards in fieldwork and publications. 
Annual awards are made in the following categories: 
AIA Dorothea Award for Conservation
The AIA, in conjunction with Dorothea Restorations Ltd, offers an annual
award of £500 and a handsome plaque to the project considered the best of
that year's entries. The Award's purpose is to support and encourage
voluntary conservation work on sites and artefacts of industrial,
agricultural, and domestic importance.
Fieldwork and Recording Awards
To promote good archaeological recording practice in Industrial Archaeology.
There are three awards: the main award of £250 for the best piece of
fieldwork submitted that year, a student award of £100 for the best entry by
a student and the initiative award of £150 for innovative projects e.g.
those from local societies. 
AIA Publications Award
The purpose of the awards is to encourage high standards in local society
publications sympathetic to the aims of industrial archaeology, but
excluding those solely concerned with transport history. A local society is
defined as being based on a town, county, district or region in England,
Wales, Scotland and Ireland, but excluding societies with a nationwide
remit. 
AIA Essay Award
The purpose of the award is to encourage the writing of original essays
which enhance the understanding of industrial archaeology.
British Archaeological Awards/ AIA Award
The AIA Award is one of roughly twelve British Archaeological Awards. These
are presented every two years and cover a range of archaeological
activities, not just excavation and recording. The AIA Award is for the best
adaptive re-use of an historic building or structure of any period.

19 August 2005 - MDA, the UK's lead organisation in the management of
information about collections has been awarded a contract by the Museums,
Libraries and Archives Council (MLA) to develop a Collections Description
Manual for MICHAEL, a project which will create the first multilingual
inventory of collections in museums, libraries and archives across Europe.

11.5 Jewel Britannia
 The Staffordshire Moorlands Pan has been acquired in a unique tripartite
arrangement between the Potteries Museum and Art Gallery (Stoke-on-Trent),
the Tullie House Museum and Gallery (Carlisle), and the British Museum
(London). This important and exciting find will be joint-owned and displayed
equally between the three partners. The pan has been acquired with the
substantial and generous support of a Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) grant of
£112,200.

A new set of indicators, published by the Audit Commission, will help

11.7 The Ecclesiastical Exemption: The Way Forward 
Following the Department for Culture, Media and Sport consultation on the
future of Ecclesiastical Exemption from Listed Buildings and Conservation
Area Consents in England, this new publication, The Ecclesiastical
Exemption: The Way Forward sets out the Government's proposals in the light
of the consultation, and its analysis of the responses to the consultation.

11.8 HEART: Measuring the Benefits of Heritage Regeneration
Heritage Economic and Regeneration Trust (HEART) the Norwich based
charitable company has brought out its first study to demonstrate how the
regeneration of the historic environment, single buildings, groups or
buildings, public spaces and events can be measured against indices of
economic environmental social and cultural progress.

11.9 European Forum of Heritage Associations (FORUM)
FORUM was constituted in 1990 in Rome as a platform for the European
volunteer movement in the field of cultural heritage. Its primary aim is to
'create a network for the non-professional world, in particular in the field
of archaeology, with which to heighten public awareness of the cultural
heritage of Europe'. It does so by organising international exchange
programmes for individual members, especially young people, which provide
opportunities to take part in the study, protection and promotion of the
archaeological and architectural heritage of Europe.

11.10 Research into Cultural Heritage Management: request
The first ever PhD student from the Centre for Sustainable Heritage,
University College London, Jeremy Hutchings, asks readers to contribute to
ground breaking research which is attempting to improve conservation
management of cultural heritage. Jeremy is a British engineer and
conservator living in Norway, head of the department for conservation

11.11 Heritage Link 
was set up in 2002 to give the many and diverse independent heritage
