Mae hwn yn ddiwrnod hyfforddi ar y cyd gyda chymorth CyMAL. Mae'n cael ei
gynnal gan yr Ymddiriedolaeth Genedlaethol, a chyda sesiynau dan arweiniad
dehonglwyr byw proffesiynol o Amgueddfa Werin Cymru yn Sain Ffagan,
Caerdydd.
Mae'r diwrnod hwn yn rhoi cyfle i gyfarfod â dehonglwyr byw ac i ddysgu am
dechnegau dehongli byw ar safle hanesyddol. Yn ystod y dydd, bydd y bobl
fydd yn bresennol yn dysgu sut i ddod â safleoedd yn fyw trwy ddefnyddio
technegau dehongli byw, a darganfod sut y gellir addasu dehongli/theatr byw

2. MLA
2.1 Culture Minister defers export of Pietro Orioli's Adoration of the
Shepherds. Friday 16 September 2005
Culture Minister, David Lammy, has placed a temporary export bar on a
painting by Pietro di Francesco degli Orioli, Adoration of the Shepherds
(also known as the Nativity). This will provide a last chance to raise the
money to keep this painting- a superb demonstration of the inventive powers,
profound spiritual empathy and technical virtuosity of Pietro Orioli
(1458-1496)- in the United Kingdom.

2.2 The Archers saved for the nation. Wednesday 7 September 2005
Tate announced today that it has acquired Joshua Reynolds' Colonel Acland
and Lord Sydney: The Archers. The work was saved from going abroad through
recent donations by Sir Harry Djanogly and an anonymous donor.

4. CADWRAETH
4.1 Signposts to Collections Care: a self-assessment pack for museums
SWMLAC have published a new revised version of Signposts to Collections
Care. Signposts is a practical tool designed to help museums to assess the
standards of their collection care activities and improve them. The process
of working through Signposts will also help museums prepare for their
application for Accreditation.
All Registered museums in the South West have been sent a free copy.

4.2 ICON -The Institute Of Conservation
Official Launch - 12th October
The Institute of Conservation provides access to and represents the whole
conservation community and profession. This new body has been formed by five
conservation organisations pooling their resources and expertise to provide
a service for the public, our cultural heritage and the members.

4.3 The Conservation Awards shortlists announced
The shortlists for the Conservation Awards, sponsored by Sir Paul McCartney,
have been announced. The judges have been visiting the conservation projects
and will be making their decision in good time for the presentations in

5.2 Open Doors 2005 - European Heritage Days in Wales
10-11, 17-18, 24-25 September 2005
The event is supported by the Welsh Assembly Government through Cadw and
organised by the Civic Trust for Wales.
Over 170 sites across Wales are opening their doors to the public as part of
a Europe-wide celebration of the heritage. These sites - many of which
usually charge for admission or are not generally open to the public - range
from public buildings, houses, castles and churches to archaeological or
industrial sites, museums and gardens. In some areas there are also town
trails and guided walks, exhibitions and talks.

6.3 New Call for Culture 2000 launched by the European Commission
The total budget for projects supported under this call for proposals is
approximately EUR 28 million. The funding requested for annual projects must
range from EUR 50,000 to EUR 150,000 and may not exceed 50% of the project's
total eligible budget. Funding requested for multi-annual projects must be
above EUR 50,000 but not more than EUR 300,000 per year and may not exceed
60% of the total eligible budget.

6.4 Partner Search - Call for proposal Culture 2000
Promoting organisation:
Marshal's Office of Opolskie Region (South - West Poland)
Project frame.
The projects intends to create the network among the cultural operators in
the member states in terms of close co-operation between the European
regions, share the experiences in the field of research and promotion of
conservation and safeguarding the cultural exhibits and use of new
technologies for the exhibitions purposes. Project will set up a new
cultural product articulating different territories.

10.1 Staff - Llongyfarchiadau i Alison Hembrow, Amgueddfa Cyffinwyr De
Cymru, Aberhonddu
Gwnaeth Alison gwrs MA mewn Astudiaethau Amgueddfa drwy Ddysgu o Bell gyda
Phrifysgol Caerlyr, wedi'i ariannu gan Gyngor Amgueddfeydd Cymru. Mae hi
rwan wedi graddio efo MA gyda rhagoriaeth.
Dywedodd Alison, "y mae wedi bod yn brofiad arbennig ac yr wyf wedi elwa
tipyn oddi wrtho - ac y mae'r amgueddfa gatrodol wedi elwa hefyd." Mae
traethawd hir Alison, "Marching in Step - an analysis of the staffing of UK
Regimental Museums", wedi ennyn llawer o ddiddordeb ymhlith amgueddfeydd
catrodol eraill, ac mae hyd yn oed y Weinyddiaeth Amddiffyn wedi holi am
gopi o'r gwaith!
10.2 Rural Museums Network
The Rural Museums Network is currently continuing work on identifying the
"distributed national collection", having completed reviews of tractors and
combines the focus has now moved to the dairy sector.

10.3 Who Do You Think You Are?
If you are planning a family history event to coincide with the second
series of Who Do You Think You Are? in Jan-March 2006 please register
details on www.archiveawareness.com remembering to tick the "family history"
box. BBC History magazine will carry listings of Archive Awareness
Campaign family history events at the beginning of 2006. I will need to
give them details by early October so if you know about a family history

11.2 Progress towards Restoration for Victoria Baths
Travelling the length and breadth of the country, Restoration brought to
life the stories behind some of Britain's most threatened architectural
treasures for millions of BBC Two viewers. On 4th September (BBC Two, 9pm)
Griff Rhys Jones will present an hour-long programme looking at the many
heritage gems that were featured in the two series, including Victoria Baths
in Manchester.
