medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Steve,
I've not read Hahneman, but I suspect that he's
influenced by Sundberg's (?) dating and argument on
the fragment. But yes, dating is open as far as I
know, with the majority leaning toward a late 2nd,
early 3rd date, and a minority leaning toward the
fourth, unless the issue has shifted since I last
looked into it.

medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval
religion and cultureThe dating of the Muratorian
fragment seems to be open. The mostrecent work that I
have read on this is Geoffrey Mark Hahneman,
TheMuratorian Fragment and the Development of the
Canon (1992), whodates the fragment to the fourth
century. The scholarly reviews ofthis work that I
have read have been mixed, many hailing it as
entirelyconvincing while others were not persuaded.
