italian-studies: Scholarly discussions in any field of Italian studies
Its a pleasure to be able to communicate and share with colleagues
from across the Atlantic. My name is Vetri Nathan, and I am in my
second year of the PhD program in the Department of French and Italian
at Stanford University in California. I am originally from Bombay,
India, and I got my I.B. diploma at the Collegio del Mondo Unito
dell'Adriatico at Duino (Trieste), after which I spent a year in the
department of Biology at the Universita` di Bologna. I then went on to
get his B.A. with honors in Italian at Connecticut College, New
London, U.S.A. with minor in Zoology.
My primary interest lies in contemporary Italian immigrant literature
and postcolonialism but also include an interest in bio-literature and
film theory/practice. I am looking forward to studying the
contemporary visions of India (and the south of the world, in general)
in the Italian collective imaginary, formed by both
intellectuals/artists such as Pasolini/tabucchi, etc. as well as by
the popular media.
Alla prossima!
Tanti saluti,
Vetri.
