Hello; My name is Guy Guber, and I am a doctoral student at the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University (San Francisco bay campus). I would like to invite your participation in research that I am conducting for my doctoral dissertation in psychology. The focus of my research is on the Models of disability (the Moral, Medical, & Social Models), and on how these might manifest in a counseling or therapy setting. I am posting this invitation here because, as a person with a disability, I am committed to including the voices of people with disabilities in my research. I also believe that professionals, who serve people with disabilities, may have a valuable perspective on this issue. Thus, regardless of whether you fall in one, both or neither of these categories, your participation is invited. My research objectives are to: a) identify how each of the Models may manifest in a counseling or therapy setting and to; b) develop a tool to help therapists and counselors identify which of these Models is impacting a client's disability-related frame of reference. Toward this end, I would like your input about how to determine a client's model(s) of disability. Detailed information about the nature of your participation (including information related to the maintenance of your anonymity, and potential benefits and risks of participation in this research) and the first round survey can be found at: https://fs16.formsite.com/ugguber/form655800733/secure_index.html NOTE: It would be of interest to know if any patterns which are identified vis-ŕ-vis this research are specific to the United States. Accordingly, I would appreciate it if you indicated that you are responding from outside of the U.S. when completing the survey(s). Thank you for considering this invitation. Respectfully, Guy T. Guber
