Russell
Firstly, I do share your grief about Tony Kay, even has you know, me too,
didn't see 'eye-to eye' with him on various issues, but that didn't take
away from me his 'humanity' shown towards others, especially those
individuals, families an carers of those with ASD's.
Can you please relay a message of condolences to his family and NAS on my
behalf.
I know that many of us within DANDA would like to share our sadness in
hearing about his sudden untimely death of such a caring and loving man who
will be sadly missed by everyone, even those like myself, within the
disabled people's movement who may not agreed with Tony's viewpoints and
idea's.
To me to be 'humanistic' is to able to separate the 'political from the
personal', in which Tony did with me on numerous occasions when I met him.
I would like to clarify again to all within DANDA, that the email I sent at
weekend was not the personal views of DANDA, but that of my own. I can't
speak for Adrian, but I think he would state that he was expressing his
personal views too, not DANDA's.
Every-time I seem to say anything this same issue always arises and is taken
totally out of context about me representing the views of DANDA, in which I
believe I have clarified to everyone concerned on numerous occasions now. I
am a member of DANDA and my 'personal views and ideas' may differ from that
of others on the DANDA Committee and members.
I always express my own ideas and views of that I share with others within
the UK and global disabled, neurodiverse and survivors movements who may
have the same viewpoints and ideologies as me around the social model,
independent living and inclusion, under the auspices of 'nothing about us,
without us'.
I will make it clear that I personally reject the 'medical model' and other
models, including the psychiatric model, behavourism model, charity model
and personal tragedy/pity/deficit model of disability that oppress all
disabled people, including nd's too.
You have my permission to share this email with others with DANDA Committee,
NAS and other concerned individuals and organisations.
With Kind and Warm Regards
Yours
Colin Revell
