Phil - Excellent website - the trailer on the mouse is a bit annoying
though! Looking forward to seeing the site develop.

Subject: Dark Tourism - Launch of NEW website www.dark-tourism.org.uk
*** Apologies for Cross-Posting ***
Dear Colleagues,
Re: dark-tourism.org
I am delighted to announce the launch of a new project dedicated to
the
growing research area of 'dark tourism'. Indeed, dark tourism, the
act
of travel to sites of death, disaster and the macabre, is becoming a
pervasive cultural activity within contemporary society. As such, it
has
received increasing attention from the academic community and media
alike.
Therefore, in order to provide a premier resource platform, discussion
forum, and an electronic publication outlet, the University of Central
Lancashire (UK) with other Partner Institutions from both the UK and
USA, have set up dark-tourism.org. The project may be found at the
following domain:
www.dark-tourism.org.uk
Please visit this site to access resources on dark tourism and its
various subsets. These include:
- Holocaust Tourism
- Slavery-Heritage Tourism
- Prison Tourism
- Battlefield Tourism
- Cemetery Tourism
Other aspects of the project include:
- Teaching & Learning resources
- Special Features
- Photo Galleries
- A Practioner's Perspective
- Diary of a Dark Tourist
- Bulletin Board
- eReview of Dark Tourism Research
Whilst dark.tourism.org is still in its infancy, and the site is still
under construction, we hope that project will evolve into a first
choice
destination when researching within these particular areas.
Please forward this message on to those students and colleagues who
may
be interested.... many thanks....
Best Wishes
PHILIP STONE
