Where does this differ from the existing service for the electronic transmission of results into Primary Care, which has been going on, in various guises, for years? Clinical results are already the single largest work flow over NHS-Net, even though the uptake is nothing like 100%.
I notice that the article does not appear to address test requesting/ordering, which provides benefits to GP and Lab, allowing the correlation of order and result in the GP patient record and reducing the number of unnecessary test requests at the Lab. Surely anything which benefits Patient, GP and Lab should be worth discussion.
