Thanks Andy,
I don't remember actually saying anything about the cricket on this list
either before or after the recent series.
I guess a bit of gloating is fully justified after a losing streak lasting
almost 20 years and I don't begrudge you Poms for feeling that way.
Overall, it was a fantastic series - I don't remember a 5 test series having
such consistently fantastic games and being so enthralling. The English
have certainly got some serious talent - particularly in the bowling
department where we were found to be severely lacking. Remove Shane Warne
from our side and there wasn't a lot left (either batting or bowling).
In the end, I think we have lost that arrogant (not sure if I can say
arsehole on this email list) aspect to our game that we have consistently
done so well. Being grumpy and winning at the same time - Alan Border
started it and Steve Waugh perfected it. For mine, there was far too much
smiling and joking going on on the field from our side. I guess that comes
with the territory - a veteran team of highly paid players, mostly at the
end of their careers who have nothing to prove and are just going through
the motions.....
Versus
A highly skilled team on the up.
Anyway, Andy, I hope that has satisfied your urge for comment on the cricket
from my good self.
PB

You have been very quiet about the cricket?
