Thanks Elayne. I'm already following your very interesting blog in my
aggregator but have also now added it to our shared del.icio.us resource. If
you'd like to edit the information, log on at http://del.icio.us/cornucopia/
- username and password are both cornucopia.
Btw, there is also a feed from del.icio.us down the lefthand panel of the
blog http://writing.typepad.com

Subject: [WDL] Memory Texts
Hello Everyone,
I'm intrigued by the topic we're discussing this month. I've been
writing
about memory in my blog VirtualDayz, which I started a few months ago
(it's
very low-tech), and thought some of the entries might interest you,
especially the pieces inspired by Annette Kuhn's book _Family Secrets:
Acts
of Memory and Imagination_. In "Annette Kuhn and Memory Work:
Reflections on
_Family Secrets_ " (July 27), I comment on the book; in "Enigmatic
Fascinations: Re-viewing Memory Texts" (August 1), I apply some of
Kuhn's
ideas to memory work of my own, more of a personal departure for me than
I'm
used to. Because I have a background both in writing and in the media
arts,
I tend to focus on how various media--old and new--have been used to
frame
memory. I'm also interested in how generational differences come into
play.
So, have a look. VirtualDayz is at http://www.VirtualDayz.blogspot.com.
As I explain in my blog, I'm researching innovative approaches to
autobiographical and biographical representation at the beginning of the
twenty-first century, with an emphasis on how documentarians, writers,
artists, and performers are using new media technologies to record,
preserve, frame, shape, evoke, archive, disseminate, and transform
memory on
both individual and collective levels. Please feel free to make
recommendations.
Best,
Elayne Zalis
