Oxford University are just about to adopt the now open source LUSID system
(http://www.lusid.org.uk/). This is an e-portfolio that is primarily focused
on UK PDP but does have some collation facilities.
LUSID has been in use at Liverpool for way more than 5 years now and is also
being used by Huddersfield.
It has not been open source for very long and we are looking to attract more
interest.
If you visit the above website then you will find a link to an instance of
LUSID which you can auto-register for and have a play.
As it says on the website, please bear in mind that the usual way to use
LUSID with a course or module is to create a set of customised pages and not
use the full system. The full system is often confusing to novice users.
If anybody is interested in installing a version at their home institution
then please get in touch with me first.

Subject: [PDP-UK-NETWORK] Your experience of e-portfolios needed!
Dear all,
The University of Salford is considering adopting/developing an e-portfolio
for students. In the light of this, I am trying to establish how widespread
the adoption of e-portfolios is across the HE sector.
It would be really helpful if list members could contact me and provide a
snapshot of what is happening in their institution, e.g.
1. If they have adopted an e-portfolio
2. If the e-portfolio adopted is a commercial product or 'home-grown'
3. How many students currently use the e-portfolio
4. The rationale for adopting an e-portfolio
Finally… in using the term e-portfolio, I am using the definition defined by
Siemens (2004):
…the notion of a digital resource (personal artefacts, instructor comments)
demonstrating growth, allowing for flexible expression (i.e. customized
folders and site areas to meet the skill requirements of a particular job),
and permitting access to varied interested parties (parents, potential
employers, fellow learners, and instructors).
Many thanks in advance!
Best wishes,
Harriet
