I must admit this is one issue of Mining History I will probably never
read. To my mind it's just not related to any aspect of mining history
which might be interesting - effectively it appears to be just morbid
curiosity.

Bit like the 1919 Man Engine Disaster in Cornwall I suppose, but personally I
wouldn't dare to presume to treat such things as lightly as some might do so
- the personal repercussions of such a statement would be far beyond my liking
in Cornwall. Why should other areas disasters be exempt... or forgotten...
just as important any where else one might assume???
