FREEDOM OF INFORMATION AND DATA PROTECTION OFFICER
Salary £21,654 - £27,411 bar at £26,157 (Under Review)
As one of the leading local authorities in Information and Records
Management, Gloucestershire County Council has an exciting opening for an
ambitious expert in the field of access to information. This post reports
to the Head of Information Management and will take the day-to-day lead on
FOI, EIR and DPA work. Compliance with these pieces of legislation, as well
as the wish to have as open an access to information policy as possible
creates the need for an experienced officer to undertake these tasks. From
answering the more complex queries, advising senior management, training
members and staff to writing and maintaining policy and guidance, the role
offers a great variety of tasks and much job satisfaction and interest.
You will be a part of the larger Information Management Service, which also
runs a Records Centre, advises on information and records management and
has started a project to roll out an electronic document and records
management system to the County Council. You will need a first degree in a
relevant discipline and two years experience in this field. Knowledge of IT
systems and advisory work at a senior level would be an advantage.
You will have an excellent understanding of relevant legislation and the
ability to address complex issues. You will need to absorb and analyse
information quickly and accurately and have the personal qualities that
will allow you to relate to people at all levels.
The post is located in Shire Hall in Gloucester and for further information
