Emerald Group Publishing Limited is pleased to announce the 2006 launch of
Qualitative Research in Organizations and Management: An International
Journal.

ABOUT THE JOURNAL
Traditionally the management and organization field has been dominated by
research studies based on quantitative techniques of data collection and
analysis. Yet increasingly there is an interest in the ‘in-depth’ studies
that are produced from qualitative work. Qualitative Research in
Organizations and Management is an international journal committed to
encouraging and publishing qualitative work from researchers and
practitioners within the management and organisational field throughout
the world. The journal seeks to provide a forum for qualitative
researchers through which they can share their work with others and
discuss issues of research practice of particular pertinence to
qualitative approaches.

UNIQUE ATTRIBUTES
QROM is the only journal that focuses exclusively on excellence in
qualitative research across the management and organizational discipline.
The journal encourages research which is critical, focused on subjective
experience and context-oriented. Any topic relevant to organization and
management studies is suitable.

To encourage reflexive practice and the dissemination of critical skills
in the field, the journal includes a section entitled Insider Accounts,
where authors can give a frank and in-depth account of some aspect of
their (qualitative) research practice. Book Reviews of relevant texts are
also published under the auspices of the Book Review Editor.

TOPICALITY
Research stemming from qualitative techniques covers a spectrum of methods
and can be located within a wide range of epistemological perspectives.
Many of these techniques are not well known or utilised by researchers in
the management and organizational studies arena despite the potentially
unique perspectives they provide on important and contemporary management
research issues.

KEY BENEFITS
QROM is essential reading for both academics wanting an overview of the
current state of the art of qualitative methods in management and
organizational research and for practitioners seeking knowledge of
excellent examples of applied qualitative empirical work. QROM:
• Is the only journal that focuses exclusively on excellence in
qualitative research across the management and organizational discipline
• Provides an outlet for high quality qualitative research
• Demonstrates the significant impact that outputs of qualitative
research can have on everyday managerial practice
• Highlights the diverse range of subject areas to which qualitative
research can contribute

KEY JOURNAL AUDIENCES
Researchers, educators, and senior practitioners who are interested in
researching, discussing and analysing qualitative research and its
implications for management and organizational studies will be interested
in the journal.

COVERAGE
Coverage includes, but is not restricted to:

• Qualitative research methodology and research practice
• Strategic management
• Public sector management
• Entrepreneurship and small business
• Marketing
• Human resource management
• Organizational theory and behaviour
• Employment relations
• Industrial/organizational psychology
• Accounting
• Finance and Financial Management
• Information systems
• Technology, innovation and operations management

FIRST ISSUE
The first issue of QROM will be published in May 2006, with two further
issues following in that year.

SUBMISSIONS

Submissions should be emailed to the Editors at

[log in to unmask]

with the manuscript attached to the email as a MS WORD file. Papers should
be no more than 7,000 words in length and contain a structured abstract of
up to 250 words and up to six keywords that encapsulate the principal
subjects covered by the paper.

All papers will first be considered by the Editors for general relevance
and significance. If accepted for review, papers will then be subject to
double blind peer review.

A brief autobiographical note which includes full name, affiliation, e-
mail address and full international contact details should be supplied for
each author. Author details should be supplied on a separate sheet to
facilitate the peer review process.
