Dear all,
In April, August and December the NRICH site (www.nrich.maths.org) contains
two extra open-ended, investigative challenges instead of the normal
monthly content.
If you have already tackled the July problems and games which are based on
angles, then have a look at "Building Patterns"
(<http://nrich.maths.org/public/viewer.php?obj_id=2920>), a picture puzzler
which is a great problem to talk about with friends. It encourages you to
find the pattern in the images and to think about how the constructions in
the picture could be continued. Or why not try "Multiply the Addition
Square" (<http://nrich.maths.org/public/viewer.php?obj_id=2922>)? This
investigation will challenge your understanding of our number system and
push your reasoning skills to the limit.
Finally, just a reminder that solutions to the July problems will appear in
September.
Happy holidays to those of you in the Northern Hemisphere!
Best wishes from the NRICH Team.
