INTRODUCTION TO MANAGEMENT SKILLS

A two-day practical introduction to the main areas of management, relevant to library and information work, with emphasis on both managing oneself, work and other people.

This workshop will help participants to:
* build on their strengths and understand their weaknesses as a manager
* raise awareness of their own and others' behaviour to improve communication in management
* enhance their practical management skills - motivation, leadership, team working and personal skills (including assertiveness)
* share ideas and experiences with others at a similar level.
All sessions require a high level of involvement and participation. You will be asked to complete a questionnaire and to bring it with you to the course.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Participants will need at least one year of post-qualification experience in order to benefit both their own and others' learning.
WORKSHOP LEADER: SHEILA RITCHIE
Sheila is a consultant in the behavioural sciences applied to work. A chartered librarian, she works in the public and private sectors in the UK and overseas, specialising in the development of management skills.
