We don’t have police response, false alarms occur to often. We dispensed with the Police response in 1997 with the agreement of our insurers.

When the alarm activates the alarm monitoring station phones our on call security officer for that campus and our security support company. Both attend - the first has to wait for the second to arrive. When both arrive (our officer has the keys) they support each other. First task is to check for signs of entry - if found they call the police from a mobile and the police always respond very quickly. Other wise they proceed with care and investigate, always as a two man team so one is able to cal for support if needed.

This has worked well for us and has the full support of the RSA our insurers. Its cost effective and much cheaper than a confirmable system.

Subject: INTRUDER ALARM SYSTEMS - CONFIRMABLE

Good afternoon,

I would like to talk to someone regarding intruder alarm systems. My

understanding is that after so many false alarms, if police response is

withdrawn a new 'confirmable' system would need to be installed. The costs

for this can be very expensive and I understand another option is to do away

with police repsonse and just have keyholding. Obviously then the insurers

need to be notified. Has anyone done this, or could someone give me their

details so I could discuss this further?

Thanks
