CALL FOR EDITOR
EDITOR FOR CRITICAL SURVEYS SECTION OF
REGIONAL STUDIES
The current editor, Stephen Roper, finishes his term of office in
February 2006. The Regional Studies Association, owners of the Journal,
Regional Studies, are seeking to appoint a successor in
November/December 2005 to take up post in March 2006.
The appointee will work in close association with the other editors of
the journal, Andrew Pike (Coordinating Editor); Mike Coombes and Neil
Marshall at the Centre for Urban and Regional Development Studies,
University of Newcastle upon Tyne; Richard Harris at the Centre for
Public Policy for Regions, University of Glasgow; Andrew Gillespie at
the Institute for Policy and Practice, University of Newcastle upon
Tyne; Amy Glasmeier, Penn State University, USA; Angela Hull at the
Centre for Environment and Planning, University of the West of England
and Colin Wren at the Newcastle Business School, University of Newcastle
upon Tyne.
Critical Surveys will be a periodic feature in the journal from 2006.
This more flexible approach is sought to encourage timely reviews and
grouped contributions around important themes in regional studies.
The aim of the Critical Surveys section is to promote academic critiques
of significant developments in regional research, policy and practice,
based on reviews of internationally recognised literature and studies.
The role of editor is to encourage the submission of such articles that
are based on sound theory and argument; to assist authors in developing
traditional standards of quality and rigour, and to oversee the process
by which the contributions are subject to the full Regional Studies
refereeing process.
The Regional Studies Association makes a financial contribution towards
editorial expenses incurred but the post of editor is honorary.
