This is a copy of my letter below that I've emailed to the East Riding of
Yorkshire Council today on this matter....
10/8/05
Dear Mr Jackson
With further reference to my discussions with Tina Holtby and yourself,
yesterday, over the phone.
Can you please reassure me and all other disabled people in the East Riding
of Yorkshire, that under the Licensing Act 2003, that no new licenses will
be issued under this 'ACT', to any 'services providers' in the East Riding
of Yorkshire, who's premises and 'services' are not fully accessible to all
disabled people, under the DDA 1995 and forthcoming DDA 2005 and that the
ERYC will be pro-active in inspecting all their premises and carrying-out
full 'access-audits' and inspections of these premises before a new license
is issued, under this 'ACT' to them, to make sure that all 'services
providers' are complying to their statutory duties under Disability
Discrimination legislation'.
Can you please consider the points I have raised and deal with these as a
matter of urgency.
Please can you respond to me, by email only, within 2 days to acknowledge my
concerns.
Yours Sincerely
Mr Colin Revell, BA Social Sciences, Dips Community and Youth Work, NACAB,
NEBSM, Cert. City of Guilds and Independent user-led disability rights basic
human rights and civil liberties campaigner, advisor, educator, advocate and
researcher within the local, national and global disability movement and
member and campaigner, advisor, advocate, educator and researcher within the
UN Disability Convention
