Dear list
Some of you may have seen a message about this on other lists; others
will have already been badgered by me directly!
I am doing research into image collections that are used to support
the teaching of the History of Art, Architecture and Design within UK
HE - either as a separate subject, or as part of another course of
study (e.g. Fine Art, Design).
This image collection might be something formal like a slide library,
or something less formal like a group of lecturers sharing a computer
folder/directory of digital images. I'm not, however, interested
collections that are strictly personal (i.e kept and used by only one
person). The collection might be digital or non-digital or both, but
should have at least 250 images.
If you look after such a collection, I would appreciate it if you
could drop me an email and say whether you'd be willing to fill in a
questionnaire about your collection. The questionnaire will take
20-30 minutes to complete and is distributed in a Word format. If you
have such a collection but do not wish to participate, please do
still drop me a note to that effect so I know not to trouble you
about this (I have a list of institutions to target!)
If you know someone else within your department/institution that
might have a relevant collection, I'd be grateful if you could
forward this request to them as well.
This research is for an MSc dissertation, but the results will also
feed into the work of my employer, the Technical Advisory Service for
Images (TASI http://www.tasi.ac.uk/), and the CLIC research project
(http://clic.oucs.ox.ac.uk/) on which I am a consultant researcher.
I am happy to answer any questions about this via this email address
or phone 0117 928 7109.
With best wishes,
Grant
