Yes - it should have done this, but if it wasn't a clean install perhaps
something got skipped.

It should be writable - either through the atlas user (atlas001) or group. In
Glasgow we have:
root of se2-gla:~# dpns-ls -l /dpm/scotgrid.ac.uk/home
drwxrwxr-x 0 root alice 0 Jul 25 17:29 alice
drwxrwxr-x 0 root atlas 0 Jul 25 17:29 atlas
drwxrwxr-x 0 root cms 0 Jul 25 17:29 cms
drwxrwxr-x 19 root dteam 0 Aug 22 12:40 dteam
drwxrwxr-x 0 root lhcb 0 Jul 25 17:29 lhcb
drwxrwxr-x 0 root sixt 0 Jul 25 17:30 sixt
which seems to work ok (try your atlas cert here if you want, copying to:
srm://se2-gla.scotgrid.ac.uk:8443/dpm/scotgrid.ac.uk/home/atlas
)

And also check the pool filesystems are mode 770, owned by dpmmgr...
