Hi again everyone,
Last week I sent out a message asking for help with my PhD research on
Emotional Intelligence. However, unlucky for me, the day I sent this
request out, which was also the day I had an advert for my study printed
in 4 newspapers (finally), my online study web site began to experience
technical difficulties. So...just when I had finally managed to recruit
some participants, I lost them just as quick as they flocked to my site
(I can smile about it now).
So..I then sent out another message to you all explaining about my
site's technical difficulties and asking you to "hang fire" with either
participating yourself or forwarding my web site link on to others.
BUT...I am now pleased to announce that the technical difficulty has
been identified and my site re-programmed to resolve the issue. So
things are now functioning as they should. On that note, I have copied
my request for help below:
My name is Kathryn and I am currently doing my PhD at the University of
Central Lancashire conducting research into Emotional Intelligence. I am
trying to recruit a general population based sample, but after over 3
months of trying to recruit people into my study I still don't have
enough people. I am therefore hoping that you all might help me out (I
am able to have some students in my sample).
If anyone would be willing to help me, I would be really really
grateful. The study involves completing a number of online
questionnaires, and in return you will receive your score on one of the
most widely used (scientifically developed) Emotional Intelligence
instruments available, as well as an interpretation of this score and an
emotional intelligence workbook. Similarly, you will also receive your
score and interpretation on a happiness instrument and satisfaction with
life instrument. Finally, all those who participate will be entered into
a prize draw where £100 Amazon voucher can be won (participants outside
of the UK may receive a similar voucher). There will only be approx.300
people in the prize draw so you have a good chance of winning!
If anyone is interested the web site address for my study is
http://www.inspiro.co.uk . The only criterion is that participants
must be aged 18+. Also, given that "word of mouth" has been one of the
most successful recruitment strategies I've tried, I would really
appreciate it if people would consider forwarding my study website
address to anyone they think may be happy to complete my study e.g.,
friends, work colleagues.
The study will be up and running online until around mid-August 2005
For those of you who tried completing my study last week but then
contacted me to report the technical difficulties, I will be e-mailing
you personally today.
Thanks!
