The Federation, in partnership with CyMAL and the National Museums and
Galleries of Wales, invite you to a meeting to discuss NMGW's "Vision -
Creating the Future Together" and the CyMAL partnership scheme " Sharing
Treasures"
NMGW is continuing to consult with stakeholders and an update on the Vision
is available on the NMGW web site at www.nmgw.ac.uk/vision
<http://www.nmgw.ac.uk/vision>. This meeting provides an opportunity for
museum professionals in Wales as a body to feed into this consultative
process.
In May 2002 the Minister for Culture, Sport and the Welsh Language announced
a scheme to be known as Cyfoeth Cymru Gyfan/Sharing Treasures, with the
following aims:
* to assist local museums across Wales to establish
partnerships with the National Museums & Galleries of Wales (NMGW);
* to facilitate the loan of items from NMGW's collections; and
* to deliver a range of exhibitions and other services from
NMGW at a local level.
The Welsh Assembly Government allocated £40,000 for the scheme in 2002/3 and
£50,000 in 2003/4, distributed through The Council of Museums in Wales
(CMW). CyMAL has continued with the scheme, allocating £55,000 in 2004/5 and
2005/6 and is developing proposals to extend it beyond the original pilot
museums. This is your chance to hear about the proposals and feed back your
views.
