Barry,
Last summer I was having a look into Barras End Low Level below Surrender
Bridge in Swaledale.
The entrance and inwards has several inches of clear slow running water
which contained several
small trout between 4/6 inches long.

Subject: Fish in old mines
Hi All,
Calling all mining - fishermen.
Has anyone come across live fish swimming around in old lead levels. I
watched five of them today outside a level taking flies from the surface. On
approaching they swam back into the level. The water from the level is
crystal clear. The fish are dark brown with spotted backs and range in
length 6 to 9 inches. There is no stream or watercourse were they could have
come from.
