Further to my previous comment, '1 Hand Buddle' is listed on a sale
advertisement for Steeperton Tor Mine ( a Dartmoor tin mine) in May 1881 and
is listed after '3 Round Buddles and Gear' [see Trans.Devon.Assoc., vol.117
(1985) p.121]. Tom.

Subject: Hand buddle
Hi List
Can someone tell me what a hand buddle is? Several were made by a carpenter
in the St Austell area of Cornwall around 1900. They cost £1 9s.. At least
one was for the Royalton Mine.
The nearest I can find is a box buddle - is that the same?
Regards
