There is a history of the Isle of Man Castletown Metropolitan Silver Band
(which broke away from the Catletown Band (a brass band) formed around
1865) published for its Centenary in 1993 a history by Dennis Spooner. The
Silver Band still exists tho its predecessor has gone. Though Dennis
states that there appears to be no surviving early minute books, he has put
together a two volume history based mostly on newspaper reports. I have
some reports from the 1840's of the Rechabite and other friendly society
bands on the Island.
