The GlaxoSmithKline Community Health IMPACT awards provide funding for registered charities setting an outstanding example in a health-related field in the United Kingdom. It is an annual grant programme funded by GlaxoSmithKline, run in partnership with the King's Fund. The awards were created in an effort to boost the funding of voluntary health organisations that suffer from a lack of resources, and often limited recognition.
Key features of the awards:
* open to registered charities that are at least three years old, working in a health-related field in the United Kingdom, with a total annual income under £750,000
* ten winners receive £20,000, and one overall winner receives an extra £10,000
* in addition, up to ten highly commended organisations receive £5,000
* organisations do not have to present a new project. The awards are designed to recognise success and achievements for existing work.
* organisations decide how to spend the money.
The deadline for applications is 5pm on Friday 21 October 2005.
