One could discuss for ever, probably, the politics surrounding the AUT
Council's two very different decisions (and what is 'sane and rational'), but
the fact remains that the vast majority of Palestinian academics have
expressed support for the boycott and Sari Nusseibeh' position is not
representative. Also there is no doubt that the boycott movement - and the
movement for disinvestment - is gathering strength as we write.
I hope that European sociologists and British sociologists will take note of
Bar Ilan's controversial record and position and act accordingly.
