Work, Interaction and Technology
King’s College London
M.Phil/Ph.D Studentship
We have a three year studentship available to support research
concerned with medical practice and ubiquitous computing. The
studentship is part of a pan European project funded under by the EC
IST Programme entitled PalCom (Palpable Computing). The successful
candidate will be expected to undertake video-based ethnographic
studies of health care and to explore the implications of their
research for the design and development of advanced computing
technologies. An interest in ethnography, and in particular
ethnomethodology and conversation analysis would be particular
advantage. The successful candidate will be expected to register for
and undertake an M.Phil/Ph.D at King’s College London. He/she will
work closely with members of the Work, Interaction and Technology
research group and partners in the PalCom project. It is hoped that
the successful candidate will begin in the next three months.
