2.2 E-learning - making it work; from the preserve of enthusiasts to 
organisation-wide implementation

ALT and the Learning and Skills Development Agency (LSDA) will be 
holding a conference in London for FE and Adult and Community 
Learning practitioners and leaders. The conference will showcase 
successful e-learning implementations, in a way which will help 
participants:
* learn from organisations which are presenting at the event;
* apply the lessons in their own organisation.
The event programme, including online booking details, will be issued 
on or around 1 September 2005.

2.3 ALT workshop
Edublogs: the educational use of weblogs, weblogging tools and really 
simple syndication (RSS)
17 November 2005, King's College, London
Presenters: Josie Fraser, Wyggeston & Queen Elizabeth I College;
Steven Warburton, King's College London.
This timely workshop addresses the current theory and practice 
surrounding the use of weblogs and RSS (Really Simple Syndication) 
within a variety of educational settings. Weblogs, which most 
popularly appear in the form of online journals, have heralded a new 
era in personal publishing but what do these new tools offer in terms 
of enhancing the learning and teaching process? What are the 
advantages to combining them with technologies such as RSS news 
feeds?

3.1 JISC ITT: Editor for the e-Framework for Research and Education
- a two-year, fixed-term consultancy to support the e-Framework 
collaboration programme in the post of e-Framework Editor.
Deadline: 1300 hrs GMT on Monday 15th August 2005.

3.2 JISC ITT: Open Access Publishing Initiative - Round 3
JISC will award short-term funding to a small number of publishers or 
learned societies who agree to waive open access submission and 
publication fees for UK Higher Education (HE) staff for a one-year 
period. There is funding of £150,000 available to support 4 - 6 
publishers through this Initiative in the 2005-06 Academic Year (1 
August 2005 - 31 July 2006). Deadline: 1 pm on Thursday 4 August 
2005.

7.1  E-learning Staff Development Opportunities at the University of 
Greenwich
A range of accredited workshops and courses on many important aspects 
of eLearning including: assessment, design, models and approaches, 
tutoring, mentoring, and collaboration. The workshops are offered in 
blended mode and provide a useful experiential introduction to e-
learning for staff from Further, Adult, Continuing and Higher 
Education as well as the training sector. They may be taken 
separately or combined together towards a series of awards, including 
Foundation Degree, BSc in Education & Training and Masters in 
Education.
