Dear All,
Recently the MLA funded a meeting to discuss the possibility of creating
a
Subject Specialist Network for Contemporary Collecting of Urban Social
History.
This meeting was attended by representatives from Clifton Park Museum,
Bristol
City Council Museums Service, the Museum of London, Reading Museums
Service,
Bristol Industrial Museum, Crodon Museum, National Museums Liverpool,
the
British Library, Tyne and Wear Museums and Birmingham Museum and Art
Gallery.
Following on from this meeting it was decided it would be beneficial to
widen
the discussion and find out if there was much interest in creating such
a
network.
I am interested to find out which institutions are collecting
contemporary
material. What the last three contemporary objects you collected were?
Is your
collecting project led or passive?
Also if anyone is interested in attending any future meetings about the
SSN
could they let me know? And what would you like to gain from such a
meeting?
Please can you send replies to [log in to unmask]
Many Thanks
