The Editorial Board of the Journal of Social Policy has vacancies for three
new members, which are to be filled at the SPA conference. In thinking
about nominations, it might be helpful to know what qualities the Editors
are looking for in new members and who is currently on the Board. We are
looking particularly for people with expertise in the following fields:
education, housing, families and family care, health services, quantitative
analysis
JSP has a list of around 250 people who review articles for the journal, so
members of the Editorial Board do not have a heavy load of reviewing.
However, they may be asked to referee articles in their area of expertise,
or when a difficult decision has to be made or a quick response provided.
Apart from that, members of the Board meet twice a year and advise the
editors on a wide range of issues related to the journal.
Please send nominations to Catherine Bochel (secretary of the SPA) at:
[log in to unmask] If you would like to discuss what is involved
contact Pete Alcock (chair of the Editorial Board) at:

Current members of the Editorial Board are: Pete Alcock (chair), Hilary
Arksey, Saul Becker (chair SPA), Fran Bennett (Social Policy Digest), Tim
Blackman, Guy Daly, Angus Erskine (book review editor), Tony Fitzpatrick,
Michael Hill, Tony Maltby (Social Policy and Society), Tim Newburn, Pauline
Prior, Sharon Wright. Jan Pahl (JSP editor), Emma Wincup (JSP editor), Jane
Dennett (adminstrator).
Thanks for your help with this
