Another student copied his paper out of SQ -- the middle of the article
which makes it harder to find. I think he did it because he really wanted
to write a great Shakespeare paper, and he just couldn't do it on his
own. He had a terrible writing style. He apologized to me when I caught him.
Perhaps some students do not see the difference between using one source
and many sources. To use one source without quotation marks is bad; to use
many sources with quotation marks is good. Usually the single source
plagiarizer will give you his source in the Works Cited! Or that has been
my experience.
Many years ago I caught a student plagiarizing and confronted him with the
evidence. He persisted in saying that he hadn't done it. He finally told
me that his father had plagiarized the paper for him. The student was a
football player. Perhaps that does not follow.
