thanks Lawrence, looks very good. Unfortunately I can't make Chester
this time, but look forward to the next meeting.

Hi All,
Those of you attending our Chester meeting next week may have realised
we
are trying to apply a little structure to our post lunch discussion
forum.
Hence building on an excellent suggestion from one of our group (thank
you
Caroline) we are suggesting the following:
Sticking with the theme of EDRMS, we will be looking at some of the
records
management essentials for preparing for this; file plan/classification
scheme/ retention schedule etc. At a local government level, public
sector
staff are concerned with EDRMS as a result of the need to meet Social
Service's Electronic Social Care Record target in October. However it
is
realised that while local government members might be interested in
ESCR-others may not, so a more generic topic of records management
requirements such as creating a file plan would be quite useful for
all.
It would therefore be interesting to get opinions on issues such as:
- how members have gone about developing a file plan, (how did they
organise
it-get input from users)
- the approach that they adopted (functional/organisational/subject
based/hybrid)
- the pros and cons of these approaches
- approaches to case files
- useful resources
As our numbers are nearing 40 for this meeting, we are proposing that
the
group breaks into 3-4 groups and discussions held on the above with a
brief
review at the end summarising the main points etc. Volunteers for
group
"facilitators" will be picked to ensure the discussion momentum is kept
up!
Regards
Lawrence
