Archivist
Library
£24,641-£31,262 p.a. inclusive of London Allowance
Vacancy 100020
SOAS has a large and expanding collection of archives relating to
Africa, Asia and the Pacific, and is a leading world resource for the
study of overseas missionary history. We are looking for an
archivist who is keen to expand their management and professional
profile in a post which offers excellent opportunities for career
development. As a member of the SOAS Archives team, you will
participate in the full range of archival duties, including reading
room services, cataloguing, enquiry work, outreach activities, and
other duties as appropriate. Cataloguing work will focus on the
archives of the Council for World Mission (formerly the London
Missionary Society) held here at SOAS. The post-holder will also
be expected to provide occasional records management and
archives advice to the Council for World Mission, based in
Westminster.
You should hold a good honours degree, with a post-graduate
qualification in archives administration (or equivalent). The
successful candidate will be well organised, have excellent IT and
communication skills and be capable of working independently and
as part of a team. We are currently converting hard-copy
catalogues to electronic format using CALM, so experience in
using this system would be desirable.
An application form and job description can be downloaded from
http://www.soas.ac.uk/jobs/. Alternatively, write to the Human
Resources Department, SOAS, University of London, Thornhaugh
Street, Russell Square, London, WC1H OXG, fax no: 020 7074

address and the vacancy reference number. CVs will only be
accepted when accompanied by an application form. No
agencies.
Closing date: 17 June 2005
SOAS values diversity and aims to be an equal opportunities
employer.
