Dear Thomas,
you are absolutely right, rich text can be very rich or quite poor
(depending on the control information that is supported by the RTF reader).
We have integrated new options for dealing with rich text in
MAXqda2 (e.g. embedded objects, external links, links to websites, graphics,
Powerpoint sheets etc.) which were not available in MAXqda1. We have
described these options as „extended RTF“ not having intended the creation
of a new format specification. If you search Google for „extended RTF“ you
will probably find out that more persons already have used the term. Anyway,
it’s not a proprietary variant, it is real Microsoft.
Best regards
Udo

One question: what exactly is the Extended Rich Text Format? When we
incorporated Rich Text as an option for document content in ATLAS.ti 5 we
also allowed embedded objects of any kind and web links. However, this was
merely a more complete usage of RTF as opposed to "crippled" solutions
(Poor Text Format?-) not allowing such features. I searched the programmers
libraries and Google to no avail. Of course, if it is a proprietary
variant, that might be the explanation....
Regards and congratulations for the new version!
