NORDIC FORUM FOR DANCE RESEARCH
“The North in a Global Context”
8th International NOFOD conference
Stockholm, Sweden
12-15 January 2006
Deadline for proposals: August 29, 2005
Contact: [log in to unmask]
THE NORTH IN A GLOBAL CONTEXT
Nordic dance, dances, dancers and dance practices,
are situated within a
larger global context. For its 8th international
conference the NOFOD
board welcomes proposals on any topic related to
this theme. It is our
wish to display the broad range of interest of our
members as well as
non-members, however the presenters might consider
any of the following
questions:
Is salsa sexier than polska? Do dance researchers
own the right to write
about dance in their own region? And what are the
rights to other
cultures? Can Nordic dance research be of value in
other parts of the
world? What can we in the North learn from the
international experience
with “Artistic Research”?
CONFERENCE VENUE
The conference will take place at Danshögskolan, The
University College
of Dance, Sehlstedsgatan 4, Stockholm, Sweden. The
school is located in
a calm environment but is still centrally situated
for communications to
and from the whole city. If you want to know more
about Danshögskolans
educational programs, please go to www.danshogskolan.se
PROGRAM
The conference starts Thursday afternoon with
registration, and in the
evening there will be a get together and a dance
performance. Friday
morning to Sunday afternoon will be the working days
of the conference.
Keynote lectures will be presented at plenary
sessions. Additionally the
conference will work in several parallel sessions
and in various
formats.
The official languages are Scandinavian and English.
The plenary
sessions will be in English and parallel sessions
will be organized so
that one of the sessions will be in English. Those
who do not understand
Scandinavian languages will always find an English
option.
