Dear PARIP Colleagues,
The MEMETIC Project is developing new ways to record, index, replay and
analyse networked events, potentially including performances and
screenings of mixed-mode research practices.
MEMETIC is a Virtual Research Environment project [www.memetic-vre.net]
working on improving the Access Grid to support virtual meetings, or in
case of PaR, virtual performances which are watched by remote
participants (or possibly replayed), and then analysed. The MEMETIC
tools should assist this process.
We are seeking groups who might be interested in collaborative virtual
performance and review.
We invite you to contact us if you (1) have use of an 'Access Grid
node', or are interested to set one up, and (2) would like to discuss
collaboration with the MEMETIC group and PARIP in order to provide an
authentic testbed for us to evaluate the project's technologies as they
relate to virtual performance capture and review.
Ludivine whom you already know from this list, is the Bristol contact
person, and I am one of the core project partners at the Open
University, working on the Compendium concept mapping/meeting capture
approach [www.CompendiumInstitute.org].
I will be at the PARIP 2005 conference so may meet you there (with my
colleague Al Selvin we are running a workshop where we will be
considering Compendium itself as a form of performance).
Please get in touch as soon as possible so that we know what level of
interest there is in participating in MEMETIC.
