CURATING RISK
PhD Studentships
Arnolfini and the University of Bristol Department of Drama invite
applications for three new collaborative PhD studentships exploring methods
of developing the curation, production, audience-participation and
dramaturgical feedback in emerging live art, experimental theatre and
interdisciplinary practice. The three studentships will look at:
1. Risk and doubt
2. Audience development and participatory activity
3. Dramaturgy around live art, experimental theatre and interdisciplinary
practice
The studentships will work within Arnolfini’s live art and dance programme
focussing primarily on Arnolfini’s Breathing Space commissioning, Inbetween
Time festival and Associate Artists Scheme.
Two of the studentships are aimed at practitioner-researchers with the
third focussing on curatorial research. To be eligible, applicants must
have a strong first degree and should have or be completing a Master’s
degree. If you do not have a formal postgraduate qualification, you must be
able to demonstrate sustained professional experience relevant to this area
of research, which could be considered equivalent to Master’s study.
The Studentship is funded through the Arts and Humanities Research Council
Collaborative Doctoral Award scheme and provides tuition fees for a UK or
EU student to undertake a PhD. If the award holder meets UK residency
criteria they will also receive a maintenance grant from the AHRC (£12,000
in 05/06). The Studentship is only open to UK and EU applicants in
accordance with AHRC rules.
Further details and information on how to apply can be found on Arnolfini’s
website at: www.arnolfini.org.uk
The deadline for applications is 5.00pm 17 June 2005. Interviews will be
held 5 ? 7 July 2005. The Studentship will begin in October 2005 and the
PhD thesis must be completed by September 2008.
