FOUR-YEAR PhD STUDENTSHIP IN HEALTH SERVICES RESEARCH
START October 2005
A studentship is now available with the MRC Health Services Research
Collaboration, based at the Department of Social Medicine, University of
Bristol.
PROJECT TITLE:
'Chronic Joint Pain in Later Life: The Experience of Pain, Patterns of
Help-Seeking and Views On Services.'
YOU SHOULD HAVE:
§ Bachelors (2i or above) or Masters degree in one of the following
disciplines - Sociology, Psychology, Social Anthropology or other Social
Sciences.
§ Knowledge of qualitative approaches.
§ Interest in developing a mixed methods approach.
DESIRABLE, BUT NOT ESSENTIAL ARE:
§ Experience in collecting qualitative data (e.g. in depth interviews).
§ Awareness of basic quantitative research methods (e.g. analysing survey
data).
Funding is for four years and offers excellent opportunities for integrated
training and personal development.
