Forwarded on behalf of Stuart Lee:
Dear All,
Following on from the LAMS practitioner evaluation, we are now pleased to
unveil our new JISC-funded project, Learning Design Tools, and invite you
to take part.
About the Learning Design Tools project:
Our aim is to find out how practitioners use different types of generic
software when designing for learning (anything from a whole course down to
a single class), in order to determine:
- What types of tool, or combinations of tool, work best for different
people;
- The functions and features within these different tools that best
support the design process (or, conversely, hinder it).
By "generic software", we mean office productivity applications (Word,
Powerpoint etc.) and cognitive tools such as mind-mapping and
concept-mapping. The term specifically excludes pedagogically-oriented
software such as VLEs, LAMS and CourseGenie.
How you can get involved:
The principal source of data in this project will be a one-day workshop in
Oxford, at which you will i) have the opportunity to experiment with
different tools and ii) design a specific piece of learning, relevant to
your subject area, using at least one tool with which you are unfamiliar.
We will, of course, give you the necessary training beforehand! There will
also be opportunities to discuss the pros and cons of the different tools,
and we may ask some of you to record your reactions as you work with each
tool.
Workshop date:
We are running the workshop twice, on Monday 27th June and Tuesday 28th
June, from 10-4. This gives you a choice of dates.
Remuneration:
You will receive £100 for taking part, and your travelling expenses will
also be paid.
How to take part:
Simply reply to [log in to unmask] and let me know which of the
two dates suits you best. We will then add you to the project's mailing
list, EPED-LDOX, where we will keep you up to date with preparations for
the workshop and set the discussion going.
With best wishes,
Liz Masterman and Stuart Lee
