Dear Friends of Q
You are invited to attend the first ever Trigger event at Q Gallery.
We hope to see you here!
Q Arts pulls the trigger on contemporary art
Trigger is a performance night that provides a platform for audio-visual
collaboration, which has developed through Q Gallery’s ongoing programme of
Playback events, and launches a new partnership with Hunting For Teeth. The
aim of this series of events is to bring artists, musicians, filmmakers and
creative practitioners together to make new work in unconventional
locations. Trigger offers a supportive space for experimentation between
artists and musicians based in Derby and beyond.
“So often art and artists defy definition, the boundaries between what and
why are blurred - Trigger highlights the reality of multiple artistic
identities; a drummer who makes film and photographs; a marketing officer
who acts; a photographer who DJs and makes film; a visual artist who plays
guitar and samples sound.”
In the past Playback events have involved bands and artists working together
in Q Gallery to perform live work in response to the exhibitions. For the
first Trigger, 3 bands have been challenged to mix with visual artists,
filmmakers, photographers and DJ’s, to form a substantial evening of
entertainment. Music will initiate film, film will provoke sound, a
photographic slide show will inspire text. Trigger is contemporary art in
action.
Trigger#1 will be a night of multi visual, performance, installation
including - film, visual art, sampled and live music; resulting in cinematic
audio visual beauty and harmonious discord – expect the unexpected.
Kind regards
Louise
