PhD Scholarship in Urban Studies

Applications are invited for a fully-funded scholarship leading to the
degree of PhD made available through the auspices of Urban Studies journal.
The scholarship is available either on a 1+3 basis ( MRes in Human Geography
+ PhD) or for three years beginning in October 2005. Applicants must have a
First or Upper Second in Geography or cognate discipline. Applicants should
be EU citizens. The scholarship covers fees, subsistence and limited
field/conference expenses.
The scholarship is intended to further understanding of cities. Applications
will be particularly welcome form those wishing to pursue research in one of
the following areas: the political economy of urban restructuring, urban
cultural regeneration, and the governance of cities.
Intending applicants should submit a copy of their CV and a statement
outlining the nature of their research proposal of between 300 and 400
words. Please supply the names of two referees. Applications should be
