Dear friends,
After working in Israel and Palestine and in the Balkans with women. I have
spend the last few months developing a Gender, Social Constructions, Power
Relations and De- Militarism course.
I would be happy to give trainings for students peace activists and on
academic level in universities and organizations. Please forward this
massage to people who might be interested.
Yours in Peace

Gender, Social Constructions, Power Relations and De- Militarism course
12 sessions of 90 minutes of intensive and experiential learning for peace
activist, NGO's and INGO's workers, trainers, teacher, advisers and
consultants, student, and women and men who would like to learn more about
these issues.
The courses offer an introduction to gender studies, analysis of the power
relationship between genders, social constructions and gender, race and
class privileges. During the course we will explore the interdependency
between gender and power and focus on theory and practices of gender roles
in different societies. The course will then focus on, militarism, the war
system and peace.
It will demonstrate a direct connection between militarism gender base
violence, gender base societal positions and violent society through
examples from the Middle East, Western and Eastern Europe with emphasis on
the Balkans.
Gender identity will be examined, via dichotomies such as passivity VS
activity, hero VS Victim (heroism/ victim- hood and victimization),
femininities VS masculinities, strong VS weak and peace VS war. It will
highlight gender issues related to war such as rape as a tool of war, human
and women security and protection strategies such as community base
security, national and international intervention and peace keeping
operation in relation to genderial power relationships.
The course will further seek to explore how understanding of genderial
social constructions can help in addressing gender inequalities and equities
in regard to the war system and militarism.
As for funding, if needed, we will have people here that can be part of and
support fund-raising efforts. From my experience, donors like it when more
than one organization cooperates together on a project.
Please let me know if that can be helpful to you
