Dear All

Just a quick ask…..!

I’m helping a friend do some background prior to the G8 summit in July. He
is making a documentary for Radio 4 – on the G8 protesters/activists. Not
concrete yet but the plan is to do interviews with all sorts of people
during the event, but think he’d also like to do some interviews with
organiser activists etc….. I will be going with him as ‘researcher’.

Now I know this is the BBC, so one thought I had was to perhaps at the same
time do something for say Medialens, we also know people doing stuff for
Indymedia. And from a research point of view I’d like to do a comparison of
what actually happens/gets said and how Radio 4 edit the final piece…. (I
did a critique of mass media representations of climate change for my
dissertation based on Herman & Chomsky’s propaganda model, so will be most
interested in the climate change dialogue or lack of).

From the climate change point of view – it would be good to get some airing
of Blair’s rhetoric earlier this year and whether it even gets a mention
during the summit – probably contrast what people are calling for on the
ground and what is getting spun in Gleneagles.

So… if anyone is interested, will be there, or just wants to comment, offer
suggestions, advice, or just make contact I’d be really grateful. I know
this might be a bit out of the CF list remit but thought a few of you may
have some ideas?! (Please email me direct if you think this is not of
interest for the broader list) CC and public opinion was one of the earlier
research strands!

Hope to hear from some of you soon!!

Thanks
All the Best
Marianne (CF Web weaver)
