There are still some places left on the MSc in IT Usability at London Metropolitan University, starting in October 2005. The course can be studied full-time (1 year) or part-time (at least 2 years).
IT-based based systems and products are becoming pervasive in business, government, homes and other areas of life. They cover a broad spectrum that includes such artefacts as:
- hand-held devices such as mobile telephones and PDAs;
- individual desk-top products such as fax machines, telephones, answering machines and printers;
- IT embedded in appliances, such as the user-interface to electronic washing machines, microwave ovens and other domestic appliances;
- control units for integrated home systems;
- e-commerce applications;
- online and other "electronic" government services.
For these type of products to be successful, they need to be designed with the end user in mind. The MSc in IT Usability helps students to develop the skills required to deploy a user-centred approach to the design and evaluation of usable IT-based systems and products.
Students have the opportunity, via both formal teaching and personal research, to explore in depth, areas of particular interest to themselves.
