Hi Jeremy et al,
We are starting to look at this again (DPM). We have the latest version
of the installation guide at Edinburgh. Jamie Ferguson is looking at
installing it at the moment. If it goes smoothly (a big unlikely if) then we can
report back and let you know what we think. dcache certainly can be
quite painful too to install, but everyone has a lot more experience
with this and it is what we are focusing on for the time being.
Note GPL and opensource are quite different things. Not sure if dcache
are trying to go for GPL which is much more tricky. Making it
"opensource", like the root package, for example, is relatively
easy. However, root is not GPL and hence can't be packaged in Debian
Linux and possibly redhat (but not so strict).
