M-GOVERNMENT VS PERVASIVE GOVERNMENT: THE USER EXPERIENCE IN FUTURE
SCENARIOS OF E-GOV
a Special Session at the
Euro mGov 2005, 10-12 July 2005, Sussex University, Brighton, UK
http://www.icmg.mgovernment.org
Session Chair: Dr. Anxo Cereijo Roibás
School of Computing, Mathematical and Information Sciences, University of
Brighton
The aim of this special session is to give a glance to the future of e-Gov
and stimulate discussion around the design of HCI for handhelds and related
applications in pervasive-Government scenarios (intersection between e-Gov,
m-Gov, iTV-Gov, etc.). The session will create a provocative framework for
future interactive e-Government applications and will generate a debate with
the audience around the emerging and contentious topic of using mobile
devices as main interfaces in a pervasive-Government experience. It is
expected that the presenters will promote inter-disciplinary and
multidisciplinary discussion about a range of HCI issues including:
management of multiple user interactions, interaction between mobile phones
and other devices, the development of usable design models for interactive
Government services in convergent media, special HCI considerations around
media sharing, new applications and new forms of interactive content more
suitable in pervasive-Gov contexts. Other ethical, legal, business and
social implications of ubiquitous communications may also be raised. The
session will conclude with a summarization of the most relevant outcomes of
the discussion.
Possible topics include (but are not limited to) the following:
* Intersection between m-Government, e-Gov and iTV-Government
* New forms of content for m-Government and pervasive-Government
* Context awareness in m-Government
* New scenarios of pervasive-Government
* Usability evaluation methodologies for m-Government applications
* HCI design in m-Gov and pervasive-Gov
* Accessibility in pervasive-Government
* Multi-modal interaction in m-Gov and pervasive-Gov
* Privacy and security control in m-Gov and pervasive-Gov applications
* Ethical and sociological issues about the democracy implications of
pervasive-Gov
