The components which get build during 'make world' are those listed in
ALL_TARGETS in the top-level Makefile.in, plus any unlisted
dependencies they may have.
The 'U' in component.xml does indeed stand for unsupported. I added
that a few months ago in response to discussion here, at the same time
as I added the <tests> element. This was based on the information in
etc/info/package-info.csv, which is I now believe redundant, and so
should probably be removed.
